Each hour, students will be accessing their classes via the WebEx Meetings app. Please see this staff directory of WebEx Meetings links. Students will click on the meeting link of their teacher each hour per their schedule.
Canvas is the new learning management system in the Shawnee Mission School District. Canvas will provide a more simplified and connected learning experience for students, staff, and families. It features robust options for assignments, grading, communication, organization, and student collaboration and integrates with many of the instructional tools teachers were already using in their classrooms.
Canvas allows teachers to create formative learning experiences and track student success. It will integrate with the district’s student information system, Skyward, and become the central hub for content and course management, learning, and parent communication.
Canvas Resources for Parents and Students
A video overview of Skyward and Canvas may be viewed here. Training instructions and the Canvas webpage for parents and students are available here. These resources will allow students and families to become more familiar with the Canvas app and the capabilities.
To login to Canvas, click on Canvas in the upper navigation bar of your school or the district website (right next to the Skyward login).
Enter your network password that you use to sign into your MacBook.
If your password is not working to get into Canvas using Chrome, but DOES work to get into your computer, we have found a possible fix by taking the device to any SMSD parking lot. Once there, sign into your Macbook and connect to the SMSD WiFi (USD512P). Wait a few minutes for the computer to receive any updates, then try accessing Canvas from there.
In the meantime, Canvas can be accessed from any device with internet using the URL above.
